Wildcats & their prey species

There are 40 species of wild cat found throughout the world. These amazing animals can be found in all habitats, from the driest deserts to tropical rain forest, from high altitudes up in the mountains all the way down to sea level. In Costa Rica there are six species of wild cat: the jaguar (Panthera onca), the puma (Puma concolor), the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), the margay (Leopardus wiedii), the jaguararundi (Puma yagouroundi) and the oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus).
